My recipe is slightly different than the Starbucks Mango Dragonfruit Lemonade.

They a base of water, granulated sugar and white grape juice concentrate. Other flavorings include citric acid, natural green coffee flavor (for caffeine), and rebaudiside, which is like Stevia. They also use a dragon fruit powder.

So, let’s get into my mix, which is quite tasty. My Starbucks copycat consists of natural flavors like mango syrup and dragon fruit syrup as the base. Which is mixed with lemonade, water, ice, and frozen fruit pieces. That’s it. It is so easy to make this delicious drink.

There are two special ingredients in this recipe. You can make your own simple syrup using the mango fruit pieces and dragon fruit pieces, water, and granulated sugar. However, summer is just starting by us and I’m sure we’ll be making these on repeat again this year. So, I just grab a bottle of each base and we’re enjoying Starbucks refreshers at home all summer. Just delicious on a hot summer day.

White Grape Juice or Water: Make sure it is 100% juice. If you prefer, you can use water to reduce thesweetness.

Mango Syrup: Sweet mango syrup, sometimes called mango nectar, provides the base flavor and sweetness to the drink. Make your own or just purchase a bottle.

Dragonfruit Pieces and Syrup: Infuse the beverage with its exotic flavor and vibrant color. I like to get my dragon fruit pieces already cut up and frozen at the local grocery store. You can make your own syrup or get a bottle.

Lemonade: Tart lemonade adds a refreshing citrusy kick, balancing the sweetness of the fruits. You can make your own using fresh lemon juice or use a store-bought brand like Simply Lemonade.

Vibrant Pink Drink

Recipe Tips (From Our Kitchen)

After making this a number of times, here are a few simple tips that really make a difference:

  • Use freeze-dried dragonfruit if you can.
This is what gives the drink that signature vibrant pink color. Fresh dragonfruit is mild and won’t give you the same look.
  • Adjust the sweetness to your taste.
Store-bought versions can be pretty sweet. When you make it at home, you can dial it back or add more depending on your preference.
  • Chill your ingredients ahead of time.
Starting with cold lemonade and juice means you won’t need as much ice, which helps keep the flavor from getting diluted.
  • Don’t skip the lemon balance.
That little bit of tartness is what keeps the drink from tasting flat. If it feels too sweet, a splash of fresh lemon juice can brighten everything up.
  • Give it a good stir before serving.
The dragonfruit can settle a bit, so a quick stir brings that beautiful color back to life.

What is Dragonfruit?

Dragonfruit is unique looking. Featuring vibrant pink or yellow skin with green scales and spiky protrusions. When cut open, the flesh of the fruit can be either white or red, speckled with small black seeds. The flavor is often described as mildly sweet with subtle hints of tanginess, similar to a blend of kiwi and pear.

It’s commonly eaten fresh, added to smoothies, salads, or used as a decorative garnish for desserts and drinks.

Dragonfruit, also known as pitaya, is a tropical fruit that comes from various species of cactus plants. It’s native to regions such as Central and South America, but it’s also grown in Southeast Asia and other tropical regions around the world.

Storage & Make-Ahead Tips

This drink is best enjoyed fresh, but you can definitely prep parts of it ahead of time to make things easier.

  • Refrigerator:
You can store the mixed drink in the refrigerator for up to 2–3 days. Just keep it in a covered pitcher or jar.
  • Stir before serving:
The ingredients may settle slightly, so give it a quick stir before pouring.
  • Make-ahead option:
You can mix the mango and dragonfruit base ahead of time and store it separately. When you’re ready to serve, just add the lemonade and ice for the freshest flavor.
  • Avoid too much ice during storage:
If you plan to store it, wait to add ice until serving so the drink doesn’t become watered down.
