We try and make a few lower carb and keto diet friendly recipes for some family members, and this is one that we all enjoy. This is also low carb diet friendly so you will want to add this recipe card to your recipe box. It’s just perfect to tame that chocolate craving.

There is no added sugar and no need for a natural sweetener. Just two ingredients.

Finding the Perfect Recipe

I tried a few chocolate mousse recipes before this one. They all called for eggs, butter, chocolate, sugar, and cream. The eggs are not cooked as they are whipped into a foam to create the light and airy texture. I like to use pasteurized eggs when using raw eggs in recipes. However, these recipes are fine, but for me, they are a bit more work than I sometimes want to do.

Therefore, I love that I can achieve a luscious chocolaty mousse with just two simple ingredients. The hardest part about making this decadent dessert is letting the mixture chill.

The best part about making this recipe is the first time I served it to my family, they raved about it.

Decadent Dessert

What are the Two Ingredients for this Easy Chocolate Mousse?

Heavy Whipping Cream. Part of the cream is used to melt the chocolate. Whip what is left to create the fluffy mousse magic and leave a bit more for a topping.

Chocolate. You can use the chocolate that you prefer, semi-sweet, milk chocolate, or dark chocolate. Here melting chocolate chips works just fine too.

A bite more on the chocolate taste. While all types of chocolate can be used for this dessert, if you like a bit more intense chocolate flavor, ten look for a chocolate that has 70% cocoa. A bittersweet chocolate will provide a deep chocolate taste. Milk chocolate will have a bit creamier and sweeter taste.

In just a few steps and 10 minutes, you will have a restaurant style chocolate mousse.

In a small bowl add ½ cup of the heavy cream and heat in the microwave for 1 minute.

Add the chocolate to the cream and let it set 1-2 minutes. The warm cream will melt the chocolate. Stir until the chocolate has incorporated with the cream and the chocolate has all melted. Set this aside to cool.

In a separate bowl, add the remaining 1 cup of heavy cream. Using a handheld electric mixer or a stand mixer on medium speed, beat the cream until Stiff peaks form. Save a bit for topping if you wish.

Fold in the whipped cream into the chocolate mixture.

Divide the chocolate mousse mixture between your serving containers. Chill for an hour.

Garnish with the reserved whipping cream or whipped topping, chocolate shavings, and fresh fruit if desired.

This recipe is just enough to fill four ramekins. Once everything is whipped and mixed together, just divide into your containers. Use containers that you have for a fun serving idea such as wine glasses, low ball glasses, coffee cups, little sauce bowls, anything goes here. Look around and see what you have stashed in your cupboard. It’s time to get your little containers out and show case them with this pretty dessert.

Dress it up with whipping cream, fresh fruit, a dusting of cocoa powder, or a few pieces of shaved chocolate.
