A Chocolate Lovers Dream

You know those chocolate truffles that are so rich and indulgent? The ones you can just eat one after another without feeling full. Well, there’s a deep secret to making these delicious treats: they’re really just balls of ganache made from chocolate with cream mixed in. No fancy ingredients necessary.

Ingredients in the Best Chocolate Truffles

Chocolate truffles are a delicious and elegant dessert that you can make at home. This recipe is easy to follow with step-by-step instructions, so it’s perfect for someone who has never made them before or an experienced home cook looking to add a new Christmas candy to their annual baking.

The best part about this recipe is that it requires just four ingredients. Technically, there are only 2 ingredients needed to make these little ganache chocolates. I add two more, one for flavoring and the other for an outside texture and more deliciousness to excite the taste buds and to make these pretty to look at too.

Chocolate. I like to use a good quality chocolate. One that I like the taste of. I have made this with chocolate chips with success as well if you are not able to find a good chocolate bar.

Heavy Whipping Cream. This is a must to help the chocolate take on the ganache like consistency. Do not substitute or the chocolate mixture will not set up properly.

Vanilla. Try and get a pure vanilla extract as it adds a delicious flavor profile to the chocolate truffles.

Ground Nus. I prefer almonds; however, you can use any type of ground nut. This is used as a coating to the outside of the chocolates.

What Kind of Chocolate to Use in a Truffle?

Use a good quality chocolate. I like to use Ambrosia, Ghirardelli, Scharffen Berger, or Baker’s if I can get it locally. We have family and friends that are particular about their chocolates, so I make this in milk chocolate, dark chocolate, and semi-sweet chocolate.

If you are not able to find or afford a better-quality chocolate, no worries. This will work with chocolate chips too. Just make sure that yours are pure chocolate, not imitation. I have used this, and it will still work and taste divine.
