Easy Knorr Spinach Dip Classic Recipe

Simple Ingredients

If you are like me, you probably have the ingredients in your pantry. Knorr Vegetable Recipe Mix Packet, spinach, sour cream, mayonnaise, green onions, and water chestnuts. This is a wonderful addition to any party table.

  • Knorr vegetable mix. Most grocery stores carry this seasoning packet in the soup isle. Did you know that this used to be just used to make a quick soup and be called Knorr Soup Mix? You can substitute other mixes for this dip such as the Leek Soup mix, but we like the Knorr Vegetable Soup Mix the best.
  • Frozen spinach. The frozen spinach is generally found in a little box. I always get the frozen chopped spinach. One time, I did not and the pieces of spinach were rather large for serving purposes. However, you can use fresh spinach, just make sure to chip that up in smaller pieces too. Pro Tip: Make sure to squeeze the excess water from the spinach or it can make the dip too runny.
  • Water chestnuts. They will add a delightful crunch to this dip. I like to get the sliced water chestnuts. Drain the liquid and slice them into matchsticks so there is a little crunchy bite in each serving. You can find the cans of water chestnuts in the International or Asian Food section of the grocery store.
  • Sour Cream and Mayonnaise. You can substitute Greek yogurt for the sour cream, but the mayonnaise adds a key flavor profile to this dip that just can’t be duplicated by a substitution.
  • Green onions. Slice the ends thinly and add to the dip. Slice the greens and place on top for a pretty garnish.
How to Make Spinach Dip

Step-by-step instructions:

  • Start by placing the frozen spinach that has been thawed in a microwave safe bowl. Microwave 3 minutes to cook the spinach. Place the spinach in a strainer to let the water drain off and the spinach cool. Pro Tip. If your strainer has larger holes, line it with paper towels first so the spinach does not fall through the holes.
  • Next in a medium bowl, mix the sour cream, mayonnaise, Knorr Vegetable Mix, chopped water chestnuts, and sliced green onions. Stir until combined.
  • Squeeze the liquid from the spinach and add that to the bowl. Stir until well combined
  • Place the dip in a covered container and refrigerate 2 hours. This will allow the ingredients to meld together for a great tasting dip.
  • Serve in a bowl or bread bowl. Use as a dip for Pumpernickel bread, Rye bread, Marble Rye bread, crackers, fresh vegetables, or corn chips. For food safety, make sure to store leftover spinach dip in the refrigerator.
