If you are ready for the best flavors from two of the best comfort foods, this Spaghetti Chili Recipe is for you! This unique delicious chili offers the sweet and robust tomato flavors that you love from spaghetti, but with the kick of classic chili.
Some call it Chili Spaghetti, we call it Spaghetti Chili. There may be other names for it, but this is one of the most popular recipes passed down from my aunt. (It doesn’t really matter what you call it when it tastes this good).
This might just be that new chili recipe you have been searching for to add to your recipe box. The next time you want to make chili, give this recipe a try.
My Aunt’s Party Chili
My aunt’s family would often ask for this homemade chili on a cold day or when they wanted that perfect comfort food. The first time I had this soup at her house I was hooked.
It is big on flavor with a sweet and tangy taste and a low to medium heat spice level. The chili part of this recipe really adds to the depth of flavor for such a simple recipe. So, if you like sweet and spicy, this is your new favorite chili, soup, or spaghetti recipe! We’re not really sure which!
Budget Friendly Meal
It is a family favorite she would make as a slow cooker chili for a super bowl party or other large family gatherings. She also made this recipe to feed her large family on a budget.
It is very economical to make and has about 10 ingredients. It makes for a very easy grocery store run. The best part of this soup recipe is that it whips up fast and is a very easy recipe.
Unique Chili Recipe
The practice of adding pasta into chili is a very Midwestern thing and adding spaghetti noodles is even more odd. However, there is nothing too normal about this very different and unique soup recipe.
This “spaghetti chili” is so good you won’t mind the odd combination of ingredients. Our Spaghetti Chili is also oddly made sweeter with my aunt’s secret ingredient, sugar! The sugar makes it very reminiscent of a sweet tomato sauce of traditional spaghetti.
The other odd thing about this chili is that is has no beans! Yes, there are no pinto beans, black beans, or white beans. However, if you want to add them, go ahead.
If you are into doing a chili cook off, this could be the simplest, and fastest way to impress the taste testers.
Imagine having the best chili recipe at the competition! We have never made this very tomato-based chili for a cook off before, but it’s sure to impress and surprise tasters.
No one expects their chili to be so sweet, tangy, and spicy, but it has been nothing short of a hit at all of our family parties.
Don’t be afraid to make this adventurous recipe and experiment to make it your own.
Fast Beef Chili
One of the main reasons this is a great recipe, is that is prepares so fast!
With such limited ingredients and little prep time, it is a true breeze to make it. Half of the ingredients are canned, which we love using canned goods as they cut your prep in half or more.
In no time you can brown your ground beef, add your spices like chili powder, throw in your chopped vegetables, add your tomatoes, tomato juices, water, pasta, and sugar and done! I can come home from work and have this hearty meal on the table in 30 minutes. Plus, the family just loves this dish, which makes me happy too.
How Long Does Spaghetti Chili Last?
In fact, because of the sugar, you want to consume this recipe in a few days time and store in an airtight container in the refrigerator up to 5 days. It doesn’t last long by us though because I eat a big bowl of chili when we make this recipe and have it for almost every meal until it is gone. It’s that tasty.
One Pot Meal
Who doesn’t love a good one pot recipe? My family loves to make things in only one pot on the stove top because we don’t have a dishwasher. It saves so much time when you can reduce the number of dishes to clean after making a meal.
Plus, you are already tired after cooking. That’s why this soup is one of the best. Filling, hearty, and one-pot!
You can cook everything in the single soup kettle, starting with the hamburger.
Make This in a Slow Cooker
You can also cook this in a slow cooker. Cook your hamburger or ground meat before you add it to the slow cooker just to be safe, then you know that it is cooked through.
Add all the other ingredients except for the noodles. Let that cook on high for 2-3 hours and low heat for 4-6 hours. Then add the uncooked spaghetti and let it cook for another 30 minutes to 1 hour. Until the pasta is al dente.
If you were in a hurry, you could cook the spaghetti noodles first before adding to the hot hamburger mixture. And serve right away.

Adjust the Spiciness of This Spaghetti Chili Recipe
Another great thing about this chili is that you can adjust the spice level exactly to your liking. We tend to use the single packets of premixed chili seasoning, but you can use more than one packet. We have a few sensitive tongues in our family, so ours is not a very spicy chili.
You can also use a few teaspoons from a jar of chili powder.
If you like yours really spicy, try adding a bit of cayenne pepper. Keep adjusting the flavor to your liking by adding small amounts at a time.
