What utensil do you use to make melon balls? They are called melon ballers. They have a round end that forms round ball about 3/8 inch to 1 inch when scooped into the flesh of a melon.
To make round watermelon balls insert the melon baller into the melon flesh and twist to create a circular shape. Continue inserting the scoop until all the flesh is made into round shapes.
This same process can be done for any type of melon.
Can you make melon balls with a cookie scoop?
Some people prefer to use a cookie scoop for making melon balls. They like the quick release of the round fruit from the cookie scoop. To make the balls using a cookie scoop, just insert the scoop into the fruit flesh, twist and scoop out the round shaped fruit.
How long do melon balls keep?
Melon balls will keep up to 5 days when stored in a glass airtight container in the refrigerator. Place into an airtight container and freeze for up to 12 months.
Can you prepare melon balls in advance?
You can prepare the melon balls up to 2 days in advance. Once the balls are made, just place the fruit in an airtight container in the refrigerator.
Why should you not put melon in the fridge?
When the melon is still whole, the best place to store it is at room temperature. Whole melons like watermelons, honeydews, and cantaloupes have their best flavor served at room temperature.
Once the fruit is cut, store them in the refrigerator up to 3 days at most.
