On the contrary, Heinz has a smooth, tomato flavor that tastes natural.

In another blind taste test of seven different brands done by the Kitchn, most of the taste testers were able to easily pick out the Heinz ketchup. Testers noted that it has a recognizable flavor that is balanced and sweet, without too much acidity. According to the taste test results, Heinz is the one that still beats all those trendy upstarts. This simple sauce is paired with French fries, meatloaf, scrambled eggs, and of course the perfect hot dog.

Even the Chicago Tribune got into the ketchup taste testing band wagon. Why not? Since this popular and delicious dipping sauce is a staple in American households.

They blind tested 12 different ketchups that all have tomatoes or tomato concentrate and includes natural flavors, and the highest quality ingredients. Popular brands were included such as Trader Joe’s Ketchup, Whole Foods, Hunts natural ketchup without preservatives, Red Gold, and of course the iconic Heinz ketchup.

In this taste test, Sir Kensington’s came out the winner to take first place. Even this brand that was noticeably chunky, where one tester likened it to tomato paste, and sported a flavor balanced between sweet and spicy, another tester called it a fancy people ketchup has its critics.
