Make this easy no-bake chocolate lasagna by layering crushed Oreo cookies, cream cheese filling, chocolate pudding, whipping cream, and a few crushed Oreos sprinkled on top. Perfect for a fancy dinner party or a quick dessert for the family.
Trusted Family Dessert Recipe
This recipe was made by my husband’s great aunt for years. When we would have family gatherings, the chocolate dessert was always the first one to go. She never had any leftovers to take home. One time, I was able to sneak the recipe out of her.
Now, I am sharing this scrumptious recipe with you.
Make Ahead Chocolate Pudding Dessert
If you are short on time, this is a fabulous recipe to make. It takes just 30 minutes to make. Pop it in the refrigerator to cool and set. When you are ready to serve, just take it out, slice and enjoy. I often make this the day before to save on time and it is simply perfect the next day yet.
Freezing the Dessert
This can be made ahead and frozen. Just thaw before serving or serve partially frozen for an ice cream style chocolate dessert. When freezing, place in the freezer uncovered. When the top is frozen, place plastic wrap over the top and cover with foil or a lid that fits snuggly onto the cake pan.

Create a perfect summertime recipe for a picnic, party, potluck, or any type of gathering in minutes. It is as easy as crushing Oreos, mixing cream cheese, and layering on instant pudding mix. When it is hot out, these no-bake recipes are the ones we like to turn to in our house.
Holiday Recipe
I made this no-bake chocolate lasagna for our New Year’s celebration dinner this year. The cookie crust is topped with a layer of creamy cheesecake, chocolate pudding, whipped cream, and topped with more cookie pieces. Everyone was happy that they saved room for this chocolatey and creamy goodness.
Ingredients You Will Need for the Chocolate Lasagna Recipe
Oreo Cookies. Get the package of the regular – not the double stuff. The package should have 36 cookies. When crushed, this will make approximately 3 cups of crushed cookies. I like to use a food processor. However, before I had one, I would put half of the cookies in a plastic bag and use a rolling pin to crush the cookies. The food processor does a better job of getting the cookie pieces small.
Melted Butter. The melted butter is combined with the crushed cookies and pressed into a 9 X 13 baking pan. Place this in the refrigerator to set up while you are making the next layer.
Cream Cheesecake Layer. This layer is like a no-bake cheesecake. Combine softened cream cheese, sugar, milk, and vanilla extract. Fold in cool whip and spread this over the cookie crust. Place back in the refrigerator and continue with the next layer.
Chocolate Pudding Layer. Whisk together the chocolate pudding mix and the milk until it starts to thicken. Spread this over the cream cheese layer and return to the refrigerator for approximately 10 minutes.
Cool Whip Layer. The final layer is cool whip.
Recipe Variations
Chocolate Pudding Mix. The recipe calls for two 3.9-ounce packages of chocolate pudding. I sometimes use one chocolate and one chocolate fudge pudding mix just for a bit richer chocolate layer.
The cool whip can be replaced with homemade whipped cream. Using a mixer combine 1 ½ cups of heavy whipping cream until soft peaks form, add a teaspoon of vanilla extract, and 3 tablespoons of powdered sugar. Continue to beat until the whipped cream holds it shape. You should end up with approximately 3 cups of whipped cream. Note: if using this cream rather than the cool whip, I recommend not freezing as the whipping cream does not hold up as well to freezing.
Dessert container options. I used a 9 X 13 cake pan today; however, this can be made in individual dessert cups layered the same way. Use 16 cups.
