Cottage Cheese Fruit Salad

This creamy Cottage Cheese Fruit Salad is one of my favorite treats once the weather turns warm in the spring and summer. A light and refreshing dessert salad that is perfect for potlucks, backyard barbecues, and family reunions.

Pink Fluff Secret Ingredient

Often pink fluff recipes call for draining the fruit and the cottage cheese, not this one. The additional liquid is needed in this recipe. There is one secret ingredient that is normally not found in other recipes. I think it adds to the creamy and rich flavors. It certainly keeps this salad fluffy rather than flat and runny.

Therefore, this recipe has 7 ingredients rather than 5. But it still takes just 5 minutes to get the ingredients into a bowl and mix. So easy with scrumptious results.

Easy and Light Fruit Salad

This pink fluff salad is just that, its fluffy, light, and packed with delicious flavor. It is one of those recipes that everyone in the family just loves.

Whenever I made this simple recipe, I rarely have any leftovers to store in the refrigerator. However, if I do, this can be stored nicely for three days in an airtight container. To be honest, this fruit salad just does not last that long in my house.

What are the Ingredients in a Cottage Cheese Fruit Salad ~What is the Secret Ingredient?

  1. Whipped Topping
  2. Sliced Strawberries frozen or fresh
  3. Cottage Cheese
  4. Crushed Pineapple With the juice
  5. White Chocolate Pudding Instant Pudding and Pie Filling powder
  6. Strawberry Gelatin Dessert powder
  7. Miniature Marshmallows

Did you see the secret ingredient? It is the White Chocolate Pudding Instant Pudding and Pie Filling powder. I love the added taste and thickness that it brings to this salad recipe. However, if you prefer an even thicker fruit salad, go ahead, and drain the pineapple and cottage cheese in a strainer before adding. I do not drain them as I feel that this liquid is needed to help incorporate all of the ingredients.

This cottage cheese fruit salad is perfect for any spring, summer, Easter, 4th of July, BBQ or picnic you are attending or celebrating.

How to Make Cottage Cheese Fruit Salad

The ingredients for this quick fruit salad are really added together in a bowl, stirred to incorporate the ingredients. That is, it. Just one bowl and either a serving bowl or pretty dessert cups.

Do NOT make the flavored gelatin, all you need is the flavored powder for this recipe. It is just added to the other ingredients.

Do Not make the White Chocolate Pudding Instant Pudding and Pie Filling, all you need is the flavored powder for this recipe. Just like the gelatin powder, it is added to the other ingredients.

Stir together the thawed whipped topping, gelatin powder and the instant pudding powder together until combined.

Add in the cottage cheese, strawberries and marshmallows and fold together.

If you can, chill for an hour before eating to let all it set up. However, we have, at times, not waited, and it was simply fine right away.
