Anyone who loves cheese sticks knows that they can be addictive. When they are hot and fresh with a crispy outside and gooey cheese on the inside, cheese lovers are happy.
Even if you are entertaining making these in the air fryer during the party can be done in minutes and your guests will thank you for it. The only problem is making sure that you have enough because they will most likely eat extra. In just a few minutes, you’ll have a tasty snack that everyone will love. So, get ready to indulge in some cheesy goodness.
After School Snack
Let’s face it, during the week, not everyone has time to make recipes from scratch. When the kids come home from school, they can be hungry, and cheese is a great snack choice.
Using the air fryer means they will be crispy and delicious without added oils from frying. In just a few minutes, everyone can be enjoying a few of these to hold them over until dinner time.
Really, any time you want a quick and easy snack to eat with the family is a great time to use your air fryer to turn a pre-made frozen food into a delicious snack in minutes. It will give you more time to spend together during movie night and less time in the kitchen.
While this recipe is for a no-fuss pre-made frozen mozzarella stick, did you know that you can make a simple version with just two ingredients? Our friends over at the Two Bite Club have a recipe for air fryer mozzarella sticks that skip the breadcrumbs. Instead the cheese is wrapped in egg roll wrapper, then air fried. Another quick and delicious afterschool snack are air fryer potato wedges.
Using an Air Fryer Versus a Toaster Oven
While you could use a regular oven or a toaster oven, it will take longer to bake, and they don’t seem to get the nice crispy outside even if you use an oil spray. Whereas the air fryer has a crunchy outside in must minutes; it is the fastest and easiest way to cook once you learn how.
This is one of those easy air fryer recipes that we turn to often for a quick meal or snack.
Therefore, I opt for the air fryer when heating frozen foods such as mozzarella cheese sticks, frozen chicken nuggets, frozen pizza rolls, tater tots, frozen French fries, and so much more.
We get the deep fryer taste without all the added oils.
How Long to Air Fry Frozen Mozzarella Sticks
Okay, let’s talk about how to make these delicious cheesy snack sticks in the air fryer. There is no need to thaw the mozzarella sticks.
This recipe works if you have a smaller air fryer or large air fryer. Just make sure that the unit has preheated before adding the cheese sticks.
It is important to preheat the air fryer to 360 degrees Fahrenheit. This only takes approximately 5 minutes.
Make a single layer of frozen sticks in the air fryer basket. Heat for 5 minutes. Pro Tip. Do not cook longer than the 5 minutes indicated. The outer crisp coating can crack allowing the cheese to ooze out the sides.
Remove the baked mozzarella sticks and serve with your favorite dipping sauce. We like marinara sauce warmed for 30 seconds in the microwave.
Notes:
For best results if you have a lot of mozzarella sticks to bake, don’t pile them all in the air crisp basket all at once. Instead, air fry one layer at a time for 5 minutes. Continue air frying one layer at a time until they are all cooked. Each batch only takes 5 minutes.
