Easy Sweet and Savory Strawberry Sausage Patties Recipe
If you're looking for something a little different, these Strawberry Sausage Patties are a delicious surprise. When it comes to homemade sausage recipes, most people think of traditional breakfast sausage seasoned with sage, pepper, and herbs.
Preheat your oven to 375°F. Line two large baking sheets with parchment paper for easy cleanup.
In a large mixing bowl, combine: Ground sausage, Strawberry jelly or preserves, Crushed Ritz crackers, Shredded cheese, Thyme, Salt, Black pepper, Onion powder.
2 Pounds Ground Sausage, 1 Cup Strawberry Jelly, 1 Sleeve Ritz Crackers, 1 Cup Cheddar Cheese, 2 Teaspoons Dried Thyme, 1 Teaspoon Salt, ½ Teaspoon Black Pepper, ½ Teaspoon Onion Powder
Using clean hands or a sturdy spoon, gently mix until everything is evenly incorporated. Be careful not to overmix, which can make the patties dense.
Form the Patties. Divide the mixture into equal portions, about ¼ cup each. Roll into balls and flatten into patties approximately ½-inch thick. Press a small indentation in the center of each patty with your thumb. This helps prevent the patties from puffing up during baking.
Chill (Optional). If you have the time. For even better flavor, cover and refrigerate the patties for at least 1 hour or overnight. This resting time allows the seasonings and strawberry preserves to blend into the sausage.
Bake. Arrange the patties on the prepared baking sheets, leaving a little space between each one. Bake for 20 to 25 minutes, flipping halfway through cooking. The patties are done when they reach an internal temperature of 160°F on an instant-read thermometer.
Allow the patties to rest for a few minutes before serving. Enjoy warm with your favorite breakfast sides.
