To Make Gravy
Stove Top Method
In a small saucepan, melt 2 tablespoons of butter over medium heat. Add 2 Tablespoons of the homemade brown gravy mix and 1 cup water. Whisk continuously to prevent lumps. Simmer Until Thickened, 1-2 minutes. The gravy will continue to thicken as it cools.
If needed, adjust the consistency by adding more water. Taste and adjust the seasoning, adding more mix if a stronger flavor is desired.
Microwave Homemade Gravy
Use microwavable bowl; make sure to use a microwave-safe bowl that is large enough to prevent overflow.
Mix 2 tablespoons of the homemade brown gravy mix with 1 cup of water. Stir water and mix until there are no lumps. A whisk or fork works nicely for this.
Place the bowl in the microwave and heat on high for 2-3 minutes.
Stir and Check Consistency. Carefully remove the bowl and stir the mixture. If the gravy hasn't reached the desired thickness, you can microwave it for additional 1-minute intervals, stirring in between until it thickens to your liking.
Pour the homemade brown gravy over your favorite dishes and savor the familiar taste reminiscent of McCormick brown gravy mix.
