Instructions
In just a few steps and 10 minutes, you will have a restaurant style chocolate mousse.
In a small bowl add ½ cup of the heavy cream and heat in the microwave for 1 minute.
1½ Cups Heavy Cream
Add the chocolate to the cream and let it set 1-2 minutes. The warm cream will melt the chocolate. Stir until the chocolate has incorporated with the cream and the chocolate has all melted. Set this aside to cool.
1 Cup Chocolate Chips semi-sweet
In a separate bowl, add the remaining 1 cup of heavy cream. Using a handheld electric mixer or a stand mixer on medium speed, beat the cream until Stiff peaks form. Save a bit for topping if you wish.
Fold in the whipped cream into the chocolate mixture.
Divide the chocolate mousse mixture between your serving containers. Chill for an hour.
Garnish with the reserved whipping cream or whipped topping, chocolate shavings, and fresh fruit if desired.
This fluffy chocolate mousse holds up well for a few days. I have successfully made this dessert two days in advance and served it at a party. It is a great recipe to make ahead. Just make sure that the mousse is not over the rim of the container. That way, you can cover with plastic wrap and place in the refrigerator.
